Our Story

We grew up in the countryside of Belmonte Calabro, a tiny village in Calabria, in the far south of Italy. Almost everything we ate came from our grandparents' farm. Eating together was a very sacred ritual and missing a meal was not an option. Our grandfather, Giacomino, always had something wise to say whenever we talked about food. For example, he would say: - "If water was good to drink, it would not have been designed to flow into the river" - arguing that wine is the most decent thing a human being can drink; or whenever we got sick, he would argue that only "cooking pills" (farm food) and "cellar syrup" (wine) could have cured us. We learned to cook traditional recipes from our grandmother Rosina and since then we started to contribute to the creation of the family restaurant. We chose to come to Paris to share our passion, our history and our culinary heritage with you. Finally, since 2014 Il Covo has been passing on our most important values such as family, friendship and a taste for good things.

The Restaurant

Il Covo is a place with a friendly, causal and musically eclectic atmosphere.  Lunch, dinner or just an aperitif with us is like taking a trip to Italy; a trip that starts in Calabria. You can come in company or even alone. You can eat in the dining room or at the counter: we have a magnificent bar. You will start with one of the many types of Spritz or Cocktails prepared with passion. You can try our traditional cold cuts such as Capicollo or 'Nduja. You can even enjoy our artisanal cheeses. And you will discover specialities such as Struncatura and Fileja, but don't forget to ask for the specialities of the day.  You will accompany your meal with exclusive Italian wines such as Magliocco from Calabria. Finally, you sip a good Illy coffee, followed by a good Grappa or Amaro.
